BATES MOTEL Teasers Creep Everyone Out

Alfred Hitchcock is all the rage right now with Hitchcock in theaters and a sweet box set now available. A&E is looking to capitalize off all this buzz with their upcoming show Bates Motel, a prequel to the events that take place in Psycho. Freddie Highmore will play the disturbed Norman Bates and Oscar nominee Vera Farmiga is set to play his mother. It definitely seems like they’ve got the acting talent to make this a nuanced and layered show rather than just a shocker like American Horror Story.

Full disclosure: I’m not a AHS fan.  It seems to go for the most outrageous and shocking plot points rather than making us care about the characters or have it be anything remotely close to believable.

And despite this promise, their teasers are definitely taking a note from their playbook. Instead of teasers or trailers that reveal any plot of meaningful moments, these seconds long segments just build the intrigue and curiousity surrounding the show. Watch both the clips below.
