Top 10 Best Traditional Christmas Song Covers

“Go Tell it on the Mountain” – Oh Susanna

Oh Susanna’s vocal performance is perfection in this celebratory gospel rendition of the holiday classic.  The joyfulness with which she sings taps in to what it must have felt like 2000 years ago to learn that your savior had been born.  Unfortunately, the audio quality is very poor in the video above, so here is a link to listen to it on Pandora.

The Nativity has never been smoother than in this cover by the yacht rock power duo.  Seriously though, this is smoother than baby Jesus’s newborn butt cheeks.

“Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas” – John Denver and The Muppets

[youtube id=”XLQFIdcTKQM” width=”600″ height=”350″]

The best version of perhaps the greatest Christmas songs ever written.  This emotional duet between Denver and Rowlf (Jim Henson) with a simple piano accompaniment is sung with such sincerity that it is almost like stumbling upon an intimate bromance moment between two good friends wishing each other the most genuine of holiday wishes.  The fact that it features two beautiful souls that the world lost way too soon also adds to the magic.  It doesn’t get any better than this!
