HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER: “Twelve Horny Women” Episode Recap

Tonight’s episode revolved around the court battle between Marshall (Jason Segal) and Brad (Joe Manganiello), in a case that would “change Marshall’s career”. Most of the time is spent on Brad working the all female jury, along with the male judge , who is quite supportive of Brad’s moves as well.

The side plot in this episode serves little to no purpose. The gang makes up stories about how badass they were as teenagers, but all prove to be a bit over embellished. These parts really weren’t that funny, so I’ll move on. The last bit of story this episode brought forth was the awkward conversations between Robin (Cobie Smulders) and Barney (Neil Patrick Harris). This storyline ends in an interesting way, but we’ll get back to that later.

Back to Marshall and Brad. Try as he might, Marshall can’t seem to come up with an arguement against Brad. Quick note: this story is being told as a flashback of sorts, with the present timeline being Marshall talking with a panel of judges about his “behavior in court.” Almost out of ideas, he calls Brad to the stand when he sees Brad scratch himself, and asks Brad to take his shirt off. Despite Brad’s objection on “grounds that it’s redonk”, the judge approves, and Brad reveals a rash that he got while at the polluted lake.

Marshall wins the case, but rather then get the 25 million dollars he was hoping for, the judge awards just $25,000. The judge explains after that he can’t bankrupt a company based on simple pollution, and we flash to Marshall in a bar drinking his disappointment away. Brad enters, and tells Marshall that he’s been inspired by Marshall to fight for the little guy again, and that he accepted a job at Marshall’s law firm. To top it off, Brad says he made a brunch ressy for the next day, and that got the “Brunch Bros” back together. I hope this means more Brad. He was always my favorite ancillary character back in the day.

The only sure plot point that we know we can look forward to is Barney and Robin getting back together, but at the end, Barney throws a wrench into that. He tells Robin that he’s done pursuing her, that he’s tired of this awkwardness, and that they will once again going back to being just bros. Robin doesn’t put up a fight, and when Barney leaves to get them a round, Robin simply says “huh.” Then, fade to black.

Really?! “Huh”? That’s all we get. This is getting ridiculous. We know they end up getting together. Just get it over with and get the storyline moving again. All this stalling is just going to make the impatient fan base more upset. I hope there is a big step forward in the story soon, and not just another few throw away episodes, as that has been the trend in recent years.

What did you think of tonight’s episode? Are you excited for more Brad? When do you think Barney and Robin will get together again? Let us know in the comments!
