Blu-ray and DVDNews

This weeks biggest release is definitely The Avengers. It was one of this summer’s biggest blockbusters. It brought together The Hulk, Iron Man, Captain America, Black Widow, Hawkeye and Thor, with the villain Loki. This movie is definitely a must have! Check out the articles we did which show some deleted scenes from the movie, here and here. Also, check out the alternate opening to the movie with Agent Hill.

Here’s a clip from the movie:

And as usual please don’t hesitate to share what Blu-Rays and DVDs you’ve bought recently, or plan to buy this week, in the comments.

Skip It!
  1. Soldiers of Fortune, (starring Ving Rhames, Christian Slater, Freddy Rodriguez, Charlie Bewley and Oksana Korostyshvskaya), DVD. This film did not get good reviews.
  2.  The Samaritan, (starring Samuel L. Jackson, Luke Kirby, Tom Willkinson and Ruth Negga), Blu-Ray and DVD. This film didn’t get good reviews either. I don’t like to put a Sam Jackson film in the skip it, so if you’ve seen it and like it let us know where it should be! Watch three clips from the movie here.
  3.  The Tall Man, (starring Jessica Biel and Jodelle Ferland), Blu-Ray and DVD.
Rent It!
  1.  The Letter, (starring James Franco, Winona Ryder, and Josh Hamilton), DVD. I don’t have the heart to put a movie with James Franco in the Skip It, so I put it here.
  2. CSI: Crime Scene Investigation- The 12th Season, Blu-Ray and DVD.
  3. CSI: Miami- The 10th and Final Season, Blu-Ray and DVD.
  4. CSI: NY- The Eighth Season, Blu-Ray and DVD.
  5. Desperate Housewives: The Complete Eighth and Final Season, Blu-Ray and DVD.
  6. Family Guy, Volume Ten, Blu-Ray and DVD.
  7. Gossip Girls: The Complete Fifth Season, Blu-Ray and DVD.
  8. Law & Order: Special Victims Unit- The Thirteenth Year, Blu-Ray and DVD.

Buy It!
  1. The Avengers, (starring Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, Scarlett Johansson, Robert Downey Jr., Tom Hiddleston, Clark Gregg, Gwyneth Paltrow, Samuel L. Jackson and Cobie Smulders), DVD, Blu-Ray, Four Disc Combo, Marvel Cinematic Universe: Phase One, Two Disc Blu-Ray. This movie was so epic, the word epic might not be enough to describe how epic it was.
  2. Bond 50: The Complete 22 Film Collection, Blu-Ray and DVD. James Bond fans, this is what you NEED!
  3. American Horror Story, Blu-Ray and DVD. One of the most popular shows ever. You still have time to enter to win it on Blu-Ray! Also, explore the Murder House app! Check out the ghosts of season 1!
  4. Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Part 1, (starring Peter Weller, Ariel Winter, Wade Williams and Michael McKean), Blu-Ray and DVD.
  5. Damsel’s in Distress, (starring Greta Gerwig, Adam Brody, Aubrey Plaza and Analeigh Tipton), Blu-Ray and DVD. Check out our review of the movie here.
  6. Key & Peele: Season One, Blu-Ray and DVD. Check out some of the highlights from season 1 here.
