The Magic is Spreading: Wizarding World of Harry Potter to open in Japan

Warner Bros. and Universal are going to team up to bring the “The Wizarding World of Harry Potter” to the Universal Studios in Osaka!

“Universal Studios Japan is thrilled to be chosen to make the Harry Potter experience come alive for the people of Japan,” Glenn Gumpel, president and CEO of Universal Studios Japan, said.

Universal Studios Japan should begin the construction on its version in the next few weeks with the target time of launch to be in late 2014. It will include a reconstruction of Hogwarts as well as Hogsmeade, rides and HP themed food.

“‘The Wizarding World of Harry Potter’ is an entirely new level of themed entertainment that brings the stories of Harry Potter to life in incredible ways. It will forever change tourism, not only in Kansai but throughout Japan,” said Michael Silver, President of Global Business Development for Universal Parks & Resorts.

James and Oliver Phelps (who played The Weasley Twins, Fred and George) were on hand during the announcement. As they were when it was announced that Hogwarts was coming to Hollywood!
