TV Upfronts: More Pick-ups, Renewals and Cancellations
It was another busy day of pick-ups, renewals and cancellations of various television shows, and NBC and ABC did most of the heavy lifting.
NBC kept chugging along as it picked up two new dramas while also renewing some old favorites. According to Deadline, Parenthood has been renewed, and both Community and30 Rock will be coming back with shortened orders which will probably spark some interesting theories. As for the newbies, Do No Harm and Infamous (formally known as Notorious) were sent to series. The former is supposed to be a Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde type medical drama while the latter’s trying to build off Revenge‘s success.
ABC finally got into the game by renewing seven shows including: Castle, Grey’s Anatomy, The Middle, Modern Family, Suburgatory, Once Upon a Time and Revenge. No word on the fates of Happy Endings, Don’t Trust the B—- in Apt. 23 or any other bubble shows. Fans of the low-rated but highly adored Cougar Town can rest easy as it was officially picked up by TBS.
The only show to be canceled today was CBS’ A Gifted Man.
