Music Monday: “Settle Down” by Kimbra

Every Monday, we highlight one song that you may not have heard of, may not have heard in ages, or one that we just can’t seem to get out of our heads. Enjoy!

Gotye’s song “Somebody That I Used To Know” still a huge hit months after it’s release, and is getting a big resurgence after it was covered on Glee and his performance on Saturday Night Live over the weekend. While he’s huge, I think it’s high time that Kimbra gets some recognition for contribution to the track. Her beautiful vocals add even more heartbreak. She’s performing in Los Angeles tomorrow night and in honor of her show, here’s one of my favorite tracks of hers, “Settle Down.”

Settle Down Lyrics:

I wanna settle down
I wanna settle down
Won’t you settle down with me?
Settle down

We can settle at a table..
A table for two
Won’t you wine and dine with me?
Settle down

I wanna raise a child
I wanna raise a child
Won’t you raise a child with me…
Raise a child

We’ll call her Nebraska
Nebraska Jones
She’ll have your nose
Just so you know

I wanna settle down
I wanna settle down
Won’t you settle down with me?
Settle down

Run from Angela Vickers
I saw her with you
Monday morning small talking on the avenue
She’s got a fancy car
She wants to take you far
From the city lights and sounds deep into the dark

Star so light and star so bright
First star i see tonight!
Star so light and star so bright
Keep him by side!

I wanna settle down
I wanna settle down
Baby there’s no need to run
I’ll love you well
I wanna settle down
It’s time to bring you down
On just one knee for now
Lets make our vows

Kristal Bailey

With a soft spot for movies that fall into the “So Bad They’re Good” category, Kristal Bailey regularly watches B-movies, 80s comedies, and sci-fi from the 50s and 60s. She also refuses to grow up if that means she has to hide her love for Disney and Pixar films.

In her free time, she enjoys reading graphic novels or books that are soon to be turned into movies, watching hours and hours of television, and spending way too much time on Twitter.
