Netflix attempts to make a move to keep in the competition received from other rental and On-Demand companies. They’ve recently inked a deal with The Weinstein Company that will see the highly acclaimed and award-ridden film, THE ARTIST, debut on the DVD/Instant Streaming service before it has a chance to appear on any cable network. THE ARTIST along with other Weinstein films will be featured on Netflix which will no doubt help bring back some of the bravado that Netflix used to sling around before its’ stumble.  The list of films includes Ralph Fiennes’ Coriolanus, Madonna’s W.E., France’s The Intouchables and Sarah’s Key as well as the high-school football documentary Undefeated.

They are all slated to premiere on Netflix within a year of their theatrical releases. This will also help to bolster Netflix’s new releases section of their library which has been severely lacking as of late. What do you think of this move by the red envelope company? Let us know!

It would seem that career goal of leading the New York Knicks to an NBA championship didn’t quite pan out. He started writing film reviews just over a year ago and became a movie buff even further back than that. He’s dabbled in fiction, poetry and random articles filled with nothingness on his way to hopefully one day becoming a published author.
