SXSW 2012: Audience Award Winners Announced!

The Audience Award winners have been announced for SXSW 2012!  I’ve been looking forward to seeing the awards that were chosen by audiences across the festival.   Every time I was handed one of those little ballots I was so excited to be able to have a way to tangibly support the films that I wanted to get behind.  I had a feeling that Citadel would win the Midnighters category.  Though I enjoyed REC [3], I knew it wouldn’t be for everyone.  Fat Kid Rules the World had a lot of buzz as well from day one. There were so many amazing films this year and all of the awards are well deserved!

DOCUMENTARY FEATURE SPOTLIGHT WINNER
Brooklyn Castle, Directed by Katy Dellamaggiore

NARRATIVE FEATURE SPOTLIGHT
Fat Kid Rules The World, Directed by Matthew Lillard

24 BEATS PER SECOND
Under African Skies, Directed by Joe Berlinger

EMERGING VISIONS
Low & Clear, Directed by Kahlil Hudson, Tyler Hughen

MIDNIGHTERS
Citadel, Directed by Claran Foy

SXGLOBAL
Her Master’s Voice, Directed by Nina Conti

Congratulations to all the festival winners for their hard work and dedication to that genre we love so very much, film.  I can’t wait to find out who the Headliner award will go to on Monday!

Did you attend the festival?  Are you surprised by any of the winners?
