DVD/Blu-Ray Round-up 3/13: TINTIN, MARILYN, THE DESCENDANTS AND MORE!

It’s that time again! Another weekly DVD/Blu-Ray Roundup!  Here are the new releases for the week and my opinion on whether you should Skip It! Rent It! or Buy It!

There are several big release this week which include: The Adventures of Tintin, The Descendants, My Week with Marilyn and Young Adult. Each of these films were nominated during this years awards season. Which included oscar nominations for George Clooney for his terrific role in The Descendants and Michelle Williams for her wonderful portrayal of Marilyn Monroe in My Week with Marilyn and her co-star Kenneth Branagh was nominated for an Oscar for his role as well. Shailene Woodley, who stars on The ABC Family hit show The Secret Life of the American Teenager, also got a Golden Globe nomination for her role in The Descendants. Charlize Theron got a Golden Globe nomination and Patton Oswalt was nominated for a Critics Choice Award for their roles in Young Adult. Many other nominations happened for the films as well.

And as usual please don’t hesitate to share what DVDs and Blu-Rays you’ve bought recently, or plan to buy this week, in the comments.  Let everyone know what you think should be bought or skipped!

  1. The Adventures of Tintin (starring Daniel Craig, Simon Pegg, Jamie Bell, and Andy Serkis), DVD and Blu-Ray and Blu-Ray 3D. This film was brilliant. I thought it was wonderfully done by Steven Speilberg with Peter Jackson. The visuals, lighting, realism, and all around beauty of the film makes this a must have film. Read our full review right here.
  2. The Descendants (Starring George Clooney, Shailene Woodley, Judy Greer and Matthew Lillard), DVD and Blu-Ray. This film was George Clooney at his finest. Read our review of the Blu-Ray here.
  3. Happy Feet Two (starring Elijah Wood, Robin Williams, Pink and Elizabeth Daily), DVD and Blu-Ray and Blu-Ray 3D. You just have to complete the collection and get this one to go along with the first film.
  4. Young Adult (Starring Charlize Theron, Jason Reitman, Patton Oswalt), DVD and Blu-Ray. Anyone who loves Charlize will love her in this film. She’s brilliant. Here is our review of the film.
  5. My Week with Marilyn (starring Michelle Williams, Kenneth Branagh, Julia Ormond, Judi Dench, Pip Torrens and Emma Watson), DVD and Blu-Ray.
  6. The Killing: Season One, DVD and Blu-Ray. I’ve heard that this is a great show and with season 2 starting soon, it’s the perfect time to catch up or re-watch it.
