THOR 2: Why we think Alan Taylor is a great choice to direct Marvel’s sequel!
I would have been interested in seeing Patty Jenkins direct THOR 2, but that is not going to happen. Last month she departed the project over creative differences. Deadline is reporting that Alan Taylor has been chosen to helm the film. Taylor has mostly directed TV series for HBO including “Game of Thrones,” “Boardwalk Empire” and “The Sopranos”. He has a great track record with the cable network, and won and Emmy for Sopranos.
Many people have wondered if Taylor will be a good fit for this project, since he has mainly worked in TV. ScreenInvasion thinks Taylor is a fabulous choice to take on this project for the following reasons:
1. He can handle an epic scope
His work on Game of Thrones shows that he can handle shooting epic scope. The beautiful sprawling scenes showed throughout season one make me interested in seeing his vision for Asgard.
2. He can handle intense action
Both Game of Thrones and Boardwalk Empire have some pretty intense action sequences that make me interested in seeing him shoot the fight scenes for this movie.
3. Drama, Drama and More Drama
Taylor won an award for his work on The Sopranos, which had a ton of dramatic arcs. This makes me think that he will be a good choice to direct scenes in THOR 2 that require drama.
