Benicio Del Toror wanted by J.J. Abrams for STAR TREK sequel

Director J.J. Abrams wants actor Benicio Del Toror to play the villain in his upcoming sequel to STAR TREK.  “I would love to see Del Toro in a Star Trek film, the guy makes for a great sinister villain, and he would be awesome!”, says Abrams.  It was reported that an official offer could go out to the actor by the time the weekend was over.  Insiders say Del Toro has met with Abrams but, in an effort to keep the role a secret, still doesn’t know exactly what it is.

Abrams is already set and ready to go for his directing duties for the sequel that was written by Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci and Damon Lindelof.  Production for the film is expected to start sometime in early 2012.

With the acting range and ability that Del Toro possesses, he should make an excellent choice for the villain role.  What do you think about Del Toro playing a villain in Star Trek?
