Having directed two character driven, dialogue heavy dramas, The Damned United and The King’s Speech, it comes as a surprise that the Oscar nominated film maker, Tom Hooper, was offered the job of making Iron Man 3.

The film, which he turned down, has now fallen to Lethal Weapon writer and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang director Shane Black.

But while Hooper won’t be working on Marvel’s summer blockbuster, Hooper has, according to a person who works closely to him, been asked to direct the adaptation of classic novel and Broadway musical Les Miserables for Working Title.

It’s unclear whether this will be his next project or if he’ll pursue The Lady Who Went Too Far next.

Do you think Hooper will get major offers after the success of The King’s Speech? Would he have been a good choice for Iron Man?
